3 Must-Do's For SEO Website Audits

Are you in the process of launching a new digital marketing strategy for your small business? Conducting a site wide website audit is something you may have heard of. This process is a must do for success in online marketing. Below are three major things to do when conducting this site audit. These will make sure that you have a solid foundation for your website when you begin to launch your marketing and advertising.

1. SEO Element Check. SEO elements are things that make up a web page that have bearing on a site's ranking and visibility in the search engines. These would be page titles, meta descriptions, images, headings, content and URLs. Use Screaming Frog which is a website crawler that will crawl your website and show you what is going on with all these elements so that you can make the proper adjustments to improve website visibility. Some things to avoid are duplicate content, missing "alt" tags for images, missing heading tags, and 404 errors.

2. Back Link Audit. - Back links are links on other websites that point to your website. It has always been a ranking signal for Google. Essentially you want the most amount of high quality back links to make your site more authoritative in your industry and boost your visibility. You can use Majestic SEO to see what links are pointing to your site. Check out the site's Trust Flow score to see if they are a spammy site that you need to tell Google to not count towards your score. In order to remove these links, use Google's DIsavow Tool.

3. Make Sure User Experience (UX) is Superb.- We can spend all day trying to get traffic to our sites, but what are we doing with the traffic that is coming to the site? Some things to do to make sure that your potential customers have the best experience they can are:

-Make sure your navigation menu makes sense and is set up for fast and simple movement throughout the site.

-Make sure all your notable contact information is easily visible.

-Make sure to use compelling calls to action (CTAs) when appropriate to improve conversions.

-Check website copy for easy to read and digestible content that is written for your target market.

There are many other things that can be done to make sure you will have an increasing visible and converting website, but make sure to to do the things above first. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out.
